I need to change the format of the user login name. For example: XXXX@XXXXX.COM to XXXX@XXXXX.COM .
I can go to user properties and change the windows login name, pre windows 2000 login name and in exchange general tab I reflect the changes, as well to say mmoore instead of mindym. I also change the user exchange e-mail address to refelect this change. when I log back in as mmoore a new profile is created and desktop setting etc are lost. Only way I can get this back is to copy them back from mindym profile. My network drive mapping seems to work fine except drive mapping for home folder since the home folder name is still mindym. My choice is to remap the drive for home folder manually to old folder or create a new folder called mmoore and copy the content of the mindym folder to mmoore folder. How is the user file/folder permission gets affected with this login name change? Does the domain sid for the user account changes with user login name change? I think it does not. So, I think file folder permission still remains the same!!! Please confirm. Did anyone ever did this and want to share experience ? Is there any better way to do this? I have about 200 users to make this change for. Need a feed back before I make a mass scale change.
