Hi Antonio,

RE: Windows Explorer

To change the default view when you start Windows Explorer perform the steps in the
following Microsoft Knowledge Base Article:

KB235356 - My Documents Folder Displayed in Windows Explorer By Default
http://www.yqcomputer.com/

RE: LAN connectoid

For my Win2K Professional system (LAN only, no domain), members of the "Users" group
can Enable and Disable my Local Area Connection after I use the Group Policy Editor
(gpedit.msc) to set the following policy to "Disabled".

Local Computer Policy > User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Network >
Network and Dial-up Connections: Prohibit enabling/disabling a LAN connection

Also, if you have never used gpedit.msc, and the computer in question is a
standalone(workgroup) computer, keep in mind that policies set using
Administrative Templates will effect all users of the computer (including
Administrators).

For more information see the following Microsoft Knowledge Base Articles:

KB218601 - Local Group Policy Objects Cannot Be Set on a Per-User Basis
http://www.yqcomputer.com/

KB293655 - How to Apply Local Policies to all Users Except Administrators on Windows
2000 in a Workgroup Setting
http://www.yqcomputer.com/

And if you have any questions specific to Group Policy, you may want to post in the
following newsgroup: win2000.group_policy

1. How to differentiate between a LAN, Isolated LAN and PPP Ethernet connection ?

2. Lan to Lan connections

I want to set up a Lan to Lan connection in my neighborhood.
I have a home Lan configured thusly:

Motorola sb5100 Surfboard modem (cable modem)

connected to:

Linksys 802.11b Wireless Access Point Router with 4-port switch.

I have three PCs connected to the router/switch.

The Lan I need to connect to is configured with exactly the same
hardware at the front end but has additional switches connecting more
PCs.

I would like to set up a VPN connection. Can anyone recommend necessary
hardware/software? Also, if anyone has an interconnection block diagram
or can accurately, verbally describe the connection diagram, that would
be very helpful.

Regards,
gitpicker
