To change the default view when you start Windows Explorer perform the steps in the
following Microsoft Knowledge Base Article:

For my Win2K Professional system (LAN only, no domain), members of the "Users" group
can Enable and Disable my Local Area Connection after I use the Group Policy Editor
(gpedit.msc) to set the following policy to "Disabled".

Local Computer Policy > User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Network >
Network and Dial-up Connections: Prohibit enabling/disabling a LAN connection

Also, if you have never used gpedit.msc, and the computer in question is a
standalone(workgroup) computer, keep in mind that policies set using
Administrative Templates will effect all users of the computer (including

I want to set up a Lan to Lan connection in my neighborhood.
I have a home Lan configured thusly:

Motorola sb5100 Surfboard modem (cable modem)

connected to:

Linksys 802.11b Wireless Access Point Router with 4-port switch.

I have three PCs connected to the router/switch.

The Lan I need to connect to is configured with exactly the same
hardware at the front end but has additional switches connecting more

I would like to set up a VPN connection. Can anyone recommend necessary
