Upgrading NT 4.0 BDC to 2003 Enterprise Server

Upgrading NT 4.0 BDC to 2003 Enterprise Server

Are there any implications to upgrading a NT 4 server set
as a BDCto WIN 2003 enterprise server while the PDC
remains NT 4.0?

1. Upgrade NT 4.0 BDC to 2003 Member server in new Domain.

2. Can an NT BDC be upgraded to 2003 Server and joined to an SBS domain?

Happy friday everyone,

Well its been a fun week, and the migration from NT to SBS has been a
"success" ;)

Everything seems to be functioning properly, and now Im on mop-up duty.
I'm working on some leftovers here, and I have an NT BDC that I would
like to upgrade to Win2003 Server and join my SBS Domain.

The kicker is that I did not upgrade this original NT Domain to the
current SBS 2003 server. I simply keyed in the 12 or so users and
remapped all of the shares.

This BDC is running some internal newsgroups through IIS that I would
like to maintain, and hence my desire to upgrade to 2003 rather than
start from scratch.

So my question is, can I upgrade this machine to Windows 2003 and then
join it to my esiting SBS Domain as a secondary domain controller?
Should I demote it to a member server first (is this possible with NT)

Thanks in advance for everyone's help.
