Here is an excerpt from KB article 314978:
==============
To remotely administer Windows 2000-based and Windows Server 2003-based
computers, you can install and run the administration tools from the
Windows 2000 Adminpak.msi file on the following computers:
- Windows 2000 Professional-based computers
- Windows 2000 Server-based member computers
- Windows 2000-based domain controllers
==============

I want to warn you that there are limitations whenever using a 2K3 adminpak
to administer a 2K domain, and vice versa. For example, I have seen
unexpected behaviour due to group policy settings that are new in 2K3

1. Win 2000 pro host win xp pro client both ping each other no internet, help please?

2. adminpak.exe and autoenrollment

I have a 2003 server that does not have certification
running.
I am on a windows xp workstation in the domain with sp1
installed and adminpak.exe on to administer active
directory.
Twice now I have been stopped from administrering AD I
get the error
"Naming infromation cannot be located because:
The specified domain either does not exist or could not
be contacted.
Contact your system administrator to verify that your
domain is properly configured and id currently online."

I also have an autoenrollment error at logon

which is: -

"Event Type: Error
Event Source: AutoEnrollment
Event Category: None
Event ID: 15
Date: 04/08/2003
Time: 11:47:54
User: N/A
Computer: mycomputer

Description:
Automatic certificate enrollment for local system failed
to contact the active directory (0x8007054b). The
specified domain either does not exist or could not be
contacted.
Enrollment will not be performed.

I have turned off autoenrollment at login through the
ocal policy but I still cannot administer AD.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this?
