automatic paste into TS

automatic paste into TS

Post by Danie » Thu, 14 Aug 2003 04:52:59

Is there a way to programatically "paste" into a TS session? We have a
custom app running on an XP tablet while connected to a W2K terminal server
via RDP 5.1.

We need our app to automatically send its data to the TS client window. We
have cut-and-paste redirection enabled so all that is really necessary is to
perform a ctrl-V in the client window (because the copy has already been
performed by the XP tablet client). We don't have the server-side
flexibility to implement virtual channels. Does anyone know the "API call"
to have the client perform this remote "paste"?

Thanks,

Daniel

2. Excel Cells Truncated When Copy And Pasting Between TS and Local

Hi,
One of our users has picked up on a wierd problem that I can't find any
information about anywhere. He has an Excel 2003 spreadsheet open in Terminal
Servies (2003 Server) that has some cells containing in excess of 400
characters. When he copies some or all of the contents of this spreadsheet
and pastes it into Excel on his local desktop, these cells are truncated to
255 characters.

I have tested this on Windows 2000 and 2003 Servers via MS Terminal Servies
and via Citrix Metaframe 4 and got the same results as our user (so I assume
that rdpclip is responsible for clipboard redirection in both MS TS and
Citrix MF4 environments). It is also worth noting that the cells were
truncated when I tried copying and pasting similar Excel data from my local
desktop to TS desktop.

Is this a limitation of Terminal Services clipboard redirection, or is it
just a case of changing a registry setting somewhere? If this is a known
limitation, I am open to any workarounds that people may be able to come up
with.

Thanks in advance...

John
