we have a exchange 2k server with sp3.........few days
back i had a problem with outgoing mails which was due to
reverse PTR error on the dns server of our ISP.

today again im facing the same problem with outgoing
mails, but there is no problem with the PTR records. all
the outgoing mails r in the queue & im not able to trace
the error. i checked the event viewer & there seems to be
no problems at all.

how do i diagonise this problem? there is absolutely no
problem with incoming mails.

please advice.

Hi,

Start by enabling SMTP logging to see if this reveals anything (configured
on the virtual SMTP server).

You could also enable message tracking and trace a sample message. You will
see where the bottleneck is. Alternatively, you could open up some of the
emails piling up (in notepad) and try to see if any reason has been inserted
into the mails. Look at the mails in the badmail folders, too. those will
usually have clues to show you why they ended up in badmail.
